(2024) A LOADED BEAST is a performance project where Ming and Hanna Gillgren delve into the convergence of their practices. Using voice as a starting point, Ming creates movement using sounds and songs out of torn-apart languages, distilling, expanding, chopping, rapping, layering, cannoning, sequencing, repeating, and phasing text and sound. Ming’s practice stems from the intersections of her identity as a black woman and the realities of navigating through life. It aims to reimagine and create an alternative way of perceiving.
